Los Guayaberos, Once led by the late great Don Faustino Oramas, a famously enigmatic singer songwriter, are now one of the strongest traditional bands playing in Cuba. Their repertoire is made up of the hundreds of songs written by their old band leader Faustino including songs like ‘Hay Candela’ (made famous by the Buena Vista Social Club), and marieta which have become Cuban classics in their own right. They also compliment their set with some newer songs written by the bands currentmusicians. Now led by Santana Orama Osorio, who was related to Faustino along with Carmito Batista, the bands bongo player, they have been taking the world by storm by playing across the globe in a string of international concerts. The group ‘Los Guayaberos’ is considered by the music critics and all of their audiences as one of the leading formations playing the true interpretation of Son Cubano. Their music is distinguished by an authentically original tumbao where the tres, trumpet, double bass and percussion and the collective work of the voices gives a cohesive rhythm and a different sound that is totally unique in the world. Founded 30 years ago by the world famous Don Faustino Oramas ‘El Guayabero’, the repertoire of Los guayaberos base their lyrics with the double entendres and the trance like rhythms that make everybody who has the privilege of listening to them dance all night. Since the 80’s the music of the band Los Guayaberos has been played on many important music scenes throughout the world and currently more than 30 countries play his songs.
